Some weddings just have an energy to them — the kind where you can feel the excitement the moment the day begins. Samantha and Aaron’s wedding in downtown Detroit was exactly that.
From the chic getting-ready moments at Shinola Hotel to the unforgettable celebration at The Brooklyn Detroit, every moment of their wedding day felt effortlessly cool, incredibly joyful, and perfectly Detroit.
Sam and Aaron truly said “I do” in epic Detroit fashion, surrounded by their closest friends and family and celebrating with a party that no one will soon forget.
GETTING READY AT THE SHINOLA HOTEL
The day began in one of Detroit’s most iconic spaces — the beautiful Shinola Hotel. The hotel’s timeless design, warm light, and stylish interiors created the perfect atmosphere for the start of Samantha’s wedding morning.
One of my favorite moments from the morning was photographing Samantha’s wedding dress. Her Maid of Honor and sister, Danielle, had the brilliant idea to hang the gown from one of the hotel’s bellman carts — and the result was absolutely stunning. It was one of those spontaneous, collaborative moments that turned into something truly special.
Samantha’s gown itself was completely timeless and elegant, and it photographed beautifully against the classic architecture and design of the hotel.
AN ICONIC DETROIT BRIDAL PARTY
One thing that immediately stood out about Sam and Aaron’s wedding day was their massive twenty-person bridal party. And not only was the group big — they were full of personality, energy, and excitement from start to finish.
From the moment everyone gathered together, the atmosphere felt electric. The entire group brought so much fun to the day, and it made every moment — from portraits to the celebration later that evening — feel even more unforgettable.
It’s safe to say this bridal party truly lives rent-free in my head for how iconic they were.
A CELEBRATION AT THE BROOKLYN DETROIT
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at The Brooklyn Detroit — one of Detroit’s most unique and stylish wedding venues.
The venue provided the perfect setting for Samantha and Aaron’s reception, blending historic Detroit character with modern design. Every detail of the space reflected the couple’s vision for a celebration that felt elevated, fun, and full of life.
From the beautiful floral arrangements to the champagne wall and carefully chosen rentals, every design element came together seamlessly to create a reception atmosphere that felt both elegant and celebratory.
THE PARTY OF THE CENTURY
If there’s one phrase that perfectly describes Samantha and Aaron’s wedding reception, it’s “the party of the century.”
As soon as the music began, the dance floor filled with friends and family celebrating the newlyweds. The energy in the room was incredible — laughter, music, and unforgettable moments unfolding all night long.
It was one of those receptions where you could truly feel how loved the couple was, with every guest fully present and ready to celebrate their marriage.
Being able to capture moments like these — the joy, the excitement, and the genuine connection between people — is one of the greatest honors of being a wedding photographer.

Detroit has quickly become one of my favorite cities to photograph weddings. With its stunning architecture, historic buildings, and vibrant energy, downtown Detroit offers an incredible backdrop for couples who want a wedding day that feels both stylish and memorable.
Venues like The Brooklyn Detroit and hotels like Shinola Hotel perfectly capture the character of the city while providing beautiful spaces for couples to celebrate their wedding day.
Sam and Aaron’s wedding was the perfect example of how magical a Detroit wedding can be.
